Real Time Head Tracking

We have developed a real-time head tracking system based on background subtraction that robustly finds and follows multiple heads, even when similarities between the background and the face/hair colour result in mistakes in the subtraction. We also have a background rebuild mode where the system can progressively reinitialize its background map after a camera slip, illumination change, or other sudden change in the background. This works by using foreground motion to conservatively estimate which parts of the changing scene belong to the background.
