Central York

Life at York

A great way to find out what life at York is like is to hear it from the students. We have provided a number of student profiles to give you an insight into real experiences. If you come to an interview day you will also get to chat to our students in person.

The University's central admissions pages have information on the Campus and York if you want to find out about the beautiful place where you could be living.

Central campus

Accommodation

Most students will live in one of the seven undergraduate Colleges on the campus. These provide a safe, community environment and each have their own welfare team. Colleges are also very active in running student-led activities, so you can settle in easily and make new friends. Detailed information on accommodation and colleges can be found on the University's central admissions pages.

Societies and Sports

The University of York Students' Union offers a huge variety of student societies. Two examples of these which our students regularly get involved with are York Student Television and University Radio York.

As well as this vast range of leisure activity groups, Electronics students themselves have set up ShockSoc, a society aimed at getting people from the department together for both social and academic events. The University's Athletic Union also manages an extensive range of sports clubs, with everything from gliding to badminton, mountaineering to gymnastics.
