We want our students to benefit from the best possible teaching in the best possible study environment. Our teaching quality was given a maximum 24/24 rating in the most recent government assessment and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) gave us perfect scores at the last professional accreditation of our BEng and MEng courses. In the 2008 National Student survey we came top of all Electronic Engineering departments in the UK for Student Satistaction, as published in the Sunday Times.
In this section you can find out all about our teaching methods, such as laboratory work, lectures and projects and our personal supervision system. Details of how to take Sandwich Years and Placements out in industry are also available. You can also find detailed descriptions of our facilities, including laboratory space, our recording studios, digital media suite, computing classroom and the University’s recently opened Nanotechnology Research Centre.
The Electronics Department is housed in a complex of purpose-built buildings in the centre of York’s parkland campus. All areas of the building are accessible by ramp or lift and we can offer plenty of support for students with disabilities. If you want to spend time further afield, you can find out about studying on a year abroad, or perhaps you would just like the opportunity to learn a different language alongside your course.
