"I was doing my first degree in the major of Electronic Engineering with Business Management from 2003 to 2006 in the Department of Electronics, University of York.
The first time I learnt about University of York was at an induction program held by the university international office in Beijing. Before that, it was really tough for me to make a decision to choose which university will be for my undergraduate study. Nice and peaceful campus environment, strong academic and research background introduction, and historical city pictures really impressed me. Eventually, I was selected as a BEng degree candidate in University of York.
I was given a very good background in the engineering field during my three years study in University of York. All the lecturers in the department are helpful and reliable; they are very patient while asking and discussing problems. The department itself also gave all the students the best study and research environment. All the laboratories in the department had been renovated, and were equipped with advanced lab instrumentations.
All the courses and projects during the three years study in University of York established a foundation for my current study, and I believe, definitely, for my future career or research as well. My final year (BEng) project was in the research area of spatial sound, which involves the study of human ears. This brought me a lot of interest in applied engineering on human bodies, also encouraged me to do a masters course in the University of Oxford. And currently I am doing my PhD degree in University of New South Wales, Australia, in the field of biomedical engineering. Good academic and research experience, help of all the academic staff, references from my supervisors are definitely premises of being granted scholarships by my current education provider. I really appreciate University of York , the Department of Electronics, and all the academic staff in the department.
I also heard that University of York is named one of the world’s top 100 universities in the new ranking recently. I am sure the university and the department will keep improving in the future, as they are young and full of passion."
