Research Area: Communications Group

Tim is member of the Communications Research Group, having previously been Group Leader, and lectures in communications topics within the Department.  His main research activity concerns communications to/from High Altitude Platforms (HAPs), and he was Chair of COST297 . He also teaches externally on satellite communications, and runs the IET Summer School on Satcoms and the annual York VSATs Course. Tim's previous background includes working for the UK Government designing satellite communication systems.

Research Interests:

High Altitude Platform (HAP) communications; Satellite communications; wireless communication systems.

Teaching Interests:

More or less anything to do with communications, but especially satellite communications.

Other Interests:

For something completely different, Tim enjoys playing the piano, and specialises in accompanying singers in classical Lieder and Art Songs.
