Ruwan received his B.Sc.(Hons) degree in electronic and telecommunication engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 1997, the M.Eng. degree in telecommunications from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, in 2000 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Essex, UK, in 2004. From Jan 2004 to Dec 2005 he worked as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate for a partnership project between the University of Hull and a SME in the area where he was involved with system level design and development of perimeter security and monitoring systems. In Dec 2005 he joined the Department of Electronics at the University of York, where he is currently a Teaching Fellow. His research interests include microwave filter design, network synthesis and perimeter security systems.
