I have been a Lecturer in the Engineering Management within the Department of Electronics at the University of York since 1993. Prior to that I spent 18 years in Industry as an electronic design engineer, technical manager and programme manager for a number of different companies. In addition to lecturing and administration within the Department I carry our research into Engineering Education and Entrepreneurship.

Outside the Departmental I am:

  • Provost of Alcuin College – The website includes information for current and prospective students staff and Alumni. Also included is a lot of information on health and welfare, sports at York and matters academic, please take a look and explore.
  • York Director of the White Rose Centre for Excellence in Teaching in Learning in Enterprise – The CETL is a HEFCE funded initiative providing capital funds to establish an Enterprise Zone and recurrent funds over 5 years to take the enterprise agenda forward across all disciplines.
  • President of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering – The EAEEIE is dedicated to supporting educators across the breadth and depth of the Electrical and Information Engineering disciplines. I am in the first of 3 years of Presidency; please take a look at my page for an overview of my vision for my period as President and then to the Association web site itself.
  • Honorary Secretary of the York Philatelic Society – Well everyone is allowed an anorak! Mine is the study of early Australian Commonwealth postage stamps. Our website is very embryonic at the moment but please contact me if you are interested.

This site provides links to all the above areas, to all my teaching resources, to papers published and projects I am associated with. If your interest area overlaps with mine please get in contact with me.
