We belong to one of the world's top 100 Universities, located in York, a beautiful city, often voted among the UK's best. The Department itself is Number 1 in the Sunday Times 2011 subject league table for Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise the majority of our submission, including 77.5% of our research output, was judged world-leading or internationally excellent. We have been at or near the top in the National Student Surveys for each of the past three years. We are delighted at this recognition, and with dedicated expert staff and talented, enthusiastic and diverse students we are determined to do better still.

Dr David Grace made Guest Professor at Zhejiang University. Dr David Grace, Head of the Communications Research Group, has been made a Guest Professor at Zhejiang University, China.
Andy Marvin is Elected a Fellow of the RAE. Professor Andy Marvin of the Department of Electronics is elected a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
2012 Guardian League Tables Published: Department in the Top Ten in the UK. The Department of Electronics at York has again been ranked amongst the top ten electronics departments in the UK.
