Welcome! Thank you for visiting the Department of Electronics at the University of York.
We belong to one of the world's top 100 Universities, located in York, a beautiful city, often voted among the UK's best. The Department itself is Number 1 in the Sunday Times 2011 subject league table for Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise the majority of our submission, including 77.5% of our research output, was judged world-leading or internationally excellent. We have been at or near the top in the National Student Surveys for each of the past three years. We are delighted at this recognition, and with dedicated expert staff and talented, enthusiastic and diverse students we are determined to do better still.
We hope you will find what you are looking for on this website, but please don't hesitate to contact us if you have queries.
Prof. David Howard, Head of Department.

Featured Article![]() The Department of Electronics has been awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze Award, becoming only the third Electronics Department to receive an Athena SWAN award. The Athena SWAN Charter was launched in June 2005 as a scheme to recognise excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education. Any university or research institution which is committed to the advancement and promotion of the careers of women in STEMM in higher education and research can apply for membership. Athena SWAN awards recognise and celebrate good practice on recruiting, retaining and promoting women in SET in higher education. Bronze departmental awards recognise that in addition to university wide policies, the department has identified particular challenges and is actively addressing issues. The Department will be presented with the award at a ceremony on the 26th September 2012 at Queen's University Belfast. |
