Other Sources of Funding - UK/EU Applicants:

EPSRC DTA

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, EPSRC, allocates a number of research studentships to the Department each year. These cover living costs and academic fees for a period up to three years. To be nominated for one of these studentships you must have been accepted to do a PhD degree in the Department for October entry, have or expect to obtain at least an upper second class honours degree (or its equivalent) and be settled in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for a period of at least three years prior to the start of the programme. (For nationals of EU member states who are not UK residents this funding only covers tuition fees: http://www.epsrc.ac.uk/funding/students/Pages/eligibility.aspx).

 

Other Sources of Funding - Non-EU Overseas Applicants:

Scholarship for Overseas Students (SOS)

For applicants commencing study of any subject (excluding HYMS students) at any level as a full-time student at the University of York in October 2012. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and the selection takes into account academic ability and financial need. The value of the scholarship is one-third or one-sixth of the appropriate tuition fee. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2012. Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS)

For applicants commencing PhD study at the University of York in October 2012. Students must be outstanding academically and have the support of their chosen department at York. The scholarship provides a full overseas fee waiver and a stipend of £5,000 per year for each year of successful study. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and the selection takes into account academic ability and financial need. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2012. Overseas Continuation Scholarship (OCS)

For current University of York Masters students who are progressing to PhD studies at the University of York commencing in October 2012. The scholarship is worth £5,000 in the first year of study as a deduction from tuition fees. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and the selection takes into account academic ability and financial need. The deadline for applications is 30 April 2012.
