The Electronics Buildings and the Heslington Campus

The University of York was founded in 1963, and now has three main campus sites, one in the historic centre of York, and two larger, 200 acre sites in the outskirts of the city at Heslington. The Department of Electronics, in common with most of the science departments in the University, is based at the older (original) Heslington Campus.

Originally the grounds of the Elizabethan manor house Heslington Hall, the University campus at Heslington has been continually developed since the University was founded. The central features of a landscaped garden have remained, and the University buildings line the winding banks of a lake, home to a large variety of wildfowl.

The Department of Electronics shares a building with the Department of Physics, and the teaching tower (which houses the undergraduate teaching and project labs, as well as music and media studios and the department's computing labs) is the tallest building on campus, with fine views over the lake.

A map of the campus is available, and some photographs of our beautiful surroundings are shown below (click on any photograph for a larger image).
