Previous Research
The areas of research of our group are devoted to the study and new developments at the convergence of signal, image processing and biological inspired visual models. Work in the group involves theoretical studies and complementary psychophysical evaluation with human observers. Presently our laboratory efforts are concentrated on two broad groups of studies. The first set is concerned with the study and analysis of the visual models, with special emphasis on the roles of joint representations (e.g. Wigner distribution and Gabor representation) in processing information about visual texture, motion and coding. The second set of projects focuses on biomedical image processing applications, in particular image fusion, microscopy, shape detection, image compression and 3D imagery.
