Our research is directed to bridge the cognitive and the neural level of analysis of intelligent systems. In particular, we develop models of knowledge representation based on biologically plausible neural networks, in the framework of embodied cognitive science, interactionism and constructivism. They are implemented in embodied cognitive agents (animats) inhabiting virtual environments.
Another research direction is computational neuroscience, at systems and network level, and issues related to spiking neural networks and far-from-equilibrium neural systems.
